Decathlon
Decathlon is a large sporting goods store in Italy that I love going to because it reminds me of being in the U.S., it’s huge and they have pretty much everything related to sports from camping tents to energy bars all in one store. Yes, it may seem like an obvious thing, but in Italy most things are bought in separate specialty shops…you need gift wrapping paper, go to the Cartoleria (paper shop). Unfortunately, there are no Targets or Walgreens here! So, shopping at places like Decathlon is a happy occasion.
There are two locations close to Florence, one in Sesto Fiorentino (Via Petrosa 19) and one in the large shopping center Parco Prato (Via delle Pleiadi 89). We prefer the one in Prato since there are tons of other shops to browse in like H&M and a Burger King – I know…I know, healthy eating!
Swim Goggles for Toddlers
Our recent Decathlon outing this past weekend was to hunt down a pair of swim goggles for Julienne. We found a pair for 2-6 year olds, Sea Squad mask made by Speedo that fit Julienne perfectly! The only problem is that she doesn’t like wearing things on her head or face for longer than a minute, hopefully her curiosity to see the underwater fish this summer wins out! 🙂
Test Drive
It seems like we were test driving this tricycle, but in reality we were trying out the sunglasses! Like I said, she doesn’t like things on her face, so we had to distract her with the tricycle to see if the glasses fit. Julienne outsmarted us, after about 5 minutes, she flung the glasses off and refused to get off the tricycle until it was time to check out. Thank god she couldn’t reach the pedals, she might have rode out of the store with it!
Happy Shopping!
