Torre Mozza Beach
We celebrated Davide’s birthday at the beach! We drove three hours (boo traffic!) to Torre Mozza, a very large beach situated in the golfo di Follonica (gulf of Follonica). The beach is located in the province of Grosseto – our favorite beaches in Tuscany are in this area.
Torre Mozza beach takes its name from the medieval tower that sits on the waters’ edge – it is a public sandy beach and on a clear day you can see the Island of Elba! I personally like Torre Mozza beach because there is sand and the water is calm. What’s your favorite beach in Tuscany?
Sand sand sand
It took Julienne awhile to get used to the sand, no not the water…the sand! This kid doesn’t like being dirty and getting sand everywhere was not exactly Julienne’s idea of fun. But, Davide worked his magic and got her to take a few walks down the beach and she finally started to enjoy herself!
Swimming with the fish
Unlike sand, Julienne really loves the water…we splashed around and kicked our feet until our lips turned blue! Here is a look at what’s hiding just below the surface of the water at Torre Mozza.
Hungry hippo
After playing in the water and sand, we all built up a big appetite and for lunch, we made small and large sandwiches…can you guess who got stuck eating the small?
Sandy beach
By the end of the day, Julienne started to finally play with the sand and enjoy the feel of it between her hands. I think it will likely take some time before she will be building any sand castles though! 🙂
Ghiacciolo (Ice Pop)
We ended our perfect day at the beach with a cold, refreshing lemon ice pop!
Until next time, bye bye beach!
