No Bread for 40 Days of Lent

Religious or Not, 40 Days No Bread

Hello, my name is Jackie Ahn and I will not eat bread for 40 days. Okay, I am so not the church going type… I consider myself to be spiritual yes, but religious no. Even so, today starts Lent and I want to give something up. I am posting about it because I need to know that there is someone out there that will hold me accountable if I feel like caving during the next 40 days.

I am so glad that I convinced Davide and he is on board with this plan. It would be completely impossible otherwise. Seriously, if you are what you eat, then we would be a family made of pizza!

So, why am I doing this? Part of me wants to do this for health reasons. We always complain about waking up bloated and feeling lethargic, I want to see if bread is the culprit. The other part of me wants to prove that I have the will to follow through and stick with something for longer than a month. It could be the gemini in me, but I tend to stick with something for short little spurts of time and then immediately jump to the next best thing.

I know that research says that repeating one behavior for 21 days will make it a habit, so cheers to getting through the first 3 weeks! Wish us luck (:

p.s. And yes to commemorate this… we did eat pizza last night!

Let me know if you’ll be giving up something this Lent. Leave a comment and we can be support buddies!

  1. Wow no bread! You can do this. I have faith. Plus I’ll ask you about it so you don’t eat bread. Good for you guys.

    1. Thanks Auntie! So far, so good. I think we’re going to try making polenta pizza, no pizza in this family doesn’t fly!
