Okay everyone talks about this Mondi gelato as the best gelato in Rome. Maybe it was high expectations… but, we left disappointed. Julienne liked it, but she likes pretty much all gelato! (:

Way too sweet

I tried the crazy delicious sounding flavor eroe dei due mondi (a mix of cream, meringue, hazelnuts and pine nuts) and pistacchio. Yeah, it sounds amazing… but, it was way too sweet. It’s gelato it should be sweet, right? Well, if it’s too sweet, it tastes artificial somehow. Eek, call me Jackie the gelato snob!

Salt over Sugar

Mondi is actually a pasticceria (pastry shop) and not just a gelato shop. We saw yummy looking pastries and super cute miniature sandwiches. Next time, we will try those out and report back on their food. For now, Mondi gelato… I’m sorry, I have to give you one baby thumbs up.

Julienne did devour her entire cone and left smiling. That has to count for something, right?
